This year alone, families are expected to raise nearly $21
million nationwide. Children and adults who live with juvenile
diabetes, and the people who love them, WALK to DO something
about juvenile diabetes!
Ask your immediate family, extended family,
neighbors, clients, babysitters, co-workers, doctors and anyone
else you would like to walk and raise funds for juvenile diabetes
research on your family’s behalf.
Write a letter, ask your neighbor, sell rubber bracelets,
have a chili cook-off, ask for donations in lieu of gifts for an event, have a yard sale, host a "restaurant fundraising night," get creative!

Say thank you! Send an update to your sponsors
about how much your team raised and how many team members
you had, include a photo of your team, and let them know what
JDRF is doing with the funds you raised!
A “virtual walk team” is comprised of a person or family whose sole purpose is to raise money for the JDRF Walk to Cure Diabetes. Virtual Walk team participants do not need to attend the Walk events. Click here to download more information about “virtual walk teams.
Get your school involved thoughout the year. Invite your principal, school nurse, teachers and classmates to join your Walk team.

Sample Letters: A letter-writing campaign is one of the most effective AND one of the easiest ways to raise money for the Walk. The average letter-writing campaign raises more than $2,000! Get all of your team members involved. By simply drafting a 'Dear Family and Friends’ letter or email explaining why you and your family are participating in the Walk to Cure Diabetes, you can reach your largest audience without even leaving the comfort of your home! Online Registration Tips: Each walker can create a personalized, secure site where supporters can make online donations. Walkers can add pictures, write a personal letter, and track their online donations on the page using a username and password.
