JDRF Outreach Program

The purpose of the Family Connections Outreach Program (Family Connections Program) is to provide one-to-one support to the families of children and adults newly diagnosed with diabetes. Phone calls to JDRF chapters from the parents of newly diagnosed children are sadly, a regular occurrence. Our volunteers and staff have reached out to those families with understanding and compassion, for we know all too well what they are going through.

The Capitol Chapter’s existing activities include delivery of the Bag of Hope , involvement in area support groups, mentoring, and volunteers also regularly visit or speak with newly diagnosed families. The annual Walk to Cure Diabetes and Holiday Gift Wrap events are also major outreach events that increases JDRF’s visibility in the community
and enables families to actively engage in
fundraising to further JDRF’s mission: a cure for diabetes and its complications.

If you would like more information about the JDRF Outreach Program or join our Outreach Committee to increase our programs involvement in the community
